Knight Foundation is seeking a creative thinker who can translate complex ideas into impactful stories. Working with the communications team, the Director/Marketing & Communications will identify and engage target audiences both on and offline and help lead the strategic development and creation of creative campaigns to support the impact of our grantmaking. The right candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment and loves the challenge of creating engaging and innovative content. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop marketing campaigns that drive awareness and impact of the foundation’s program investments and research. 
  • Work on strategies with the Director/Communications to help maximize our earned media coverage.
  • Advise on creative strategies for large-scale hybrid events and programs.
  • Oversee social media strategy, web design/development and email marketing.
  • Advise and direct the development of videos, infographics, podcasts, publications, reports and other assets that broaden the reach of Knight Foundation content. 
  • Help develop creative and brand alignment for a number of franchise efforts.
  • Source, select and manage a team of vendor partners to drive the quality and pace of the work. 

Things we look for in a successful candidate:

  • A wide-ranging portfolio managing and executing creative storytelling concepts and campaigns.
  • A high-level understanding of PR, digital strategy, UX, web development and social media content creation
  • Eight or more years of experience in marketing and communications work
  • Event design and project management experience
  • Strong writing skills
  • An understanding of data analysis, visualization and media metrics expertise
  • Strong judgment and readiness to be held accountable
